The International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) has been shortlisted for the 2025 Sport Positive Awards in the “Education and Training” category , recognizing its commitment to enhancing environmental awareness and promoting sustainable practices in the global table tennis community.
The ITTF is among 100 “change agents” from across the sporting world, recognised for their contribution to a sustainable and climate-responsible future for sport . The accolade highlights table tennis’ growing role in the global environmental responsibility movement .
What are the Sport Positive Awards?
The awards honour organisations and individuals who are leading innovative approaches to sustainability, climate action and environmental justice within sport. This year’s shortlist includes teams, federations, stadiums, universities and sports leagues from six continents , confirming the global nature of the movement.
The ITTF Sustainability Education Platform
The recognition focuses on the ITTF Sustainability Education Platform , a free online educational tool that makes sustainability simple and accessible to the global table tennis community.The platform, designed for member federations, athletes, coaches, officials and referees , offers interactive lessons with gamified modules covering environmental and social sustainability issues , in line with ITTF’s commitments under the Sport for Climate and Sport for Nature Frameworks .
From Launch to Success
From Earth Day 2025 to Today: 200+ people from 64 countries have used the platform 130+ certifications have been issued. The content includes scenarios, videos, quizzes and real case studies.The model is considered an example to follow for other sports federations. Its success is based on simplicity and adaptability to the needs of the community , with low cost but professional and substantial impact .
The Next Step
The platform is a central pillar of the ITTF’s long-term sustainability strategy , with new modules and stakeholder engagement actions already underway. Sport Positive founder Claire Poole said:”The climate crisis is increasingly affecting the sports we love.
